In Red Cow the godi is the person in your stead who
leads you in the little day-to-day rituals and
observances, tells the myths and stories, maybe does
divination to the gods, tries to tell everyone what
'right' behaviour is, sometimes intercedes with the
local guardians (tough this may be the role of the
first hearth instead). They usually have another 'job'
and may be an initiate if the stead does not have a
devotee.
Priests are full-time religious workers, very often devotees as they are supported by the clan and the equivalent of a thane in influence - they are on the outer ring. Talking to the gods is their 'job'.
Most people would go to their godi first for relgious matters, and be taken to their priest if the godi did not know what to do. Priests also officiate on the holy day ceremonies, but the godi assist.
