Your memory is correct although we've never seen any examples of
it in heroquest publications nor has they appeared to stop the God
Learners or the Lunars. The only known reference is to Arkat
wounding himself in a fight against Zorak Zoran.
My guess is that these guardians are actually Arkat himself and
that he guards the obvious links/exploits between Brithini, Hrestoli,
Ralian, Orlanthi/Humakti and Troll heropaths because he is still
there trying to take advantage of them.
