Since the Dawn there's always been some sort of settlement at Mirin's Cross as a channel for commerce and ideas between Peloria and Dragon Pass. The World Council of Friends, the Dara Happan Empire, the Empire of Light and the EWF have all left traces of their passing in Mirin's Cross.
All these contacts are merely revivals of the mythical city of Elempur which exists on a prehistoric map of Dara Happa marked with the rune of Lokarnos. And as Lokarnos was the inventor of the Golden Wheel, Elempur was the City of the Gold Wheel Dancers.
I'm thinking that when Elempur was first razed, its survivors worked a great magic to preserve the memories of what had been lost. Perhaps Mirin's Cross refers to the Gold Wheel Dancer who transformed himself into a cross in that dismal time.
The aftereffects of Mirin's change is this. Everything that has ever marched through the city can still be found in some corner - Gold Wheel Dancers, Ram People, Mythical era Dara Happans, Chaos Monsters, Nysaloran Illuminates, Golden Dragon Missionaries, Arkat's Dark Warriors and so on - all can be found in Mirin's Cross. For the people of history, they reside in insular neighbourhoods and preserve their memories out of the sight of foreigners. For the people of mythic times, their residences lie in the heroplanes of Mirin's Cross with a large gold cross visible on the horizon.
There is another tradition that Sagittus the bow god was found at Elempur but I have my suspicions for thinking that is a contamination from another myth which really concerns another place.
