I wonder if this has something to do with the Vrimak pantheon and the Avian Return Movement. If ducks were a part of the Vrimak pantheon and lost their flight magic when the Rinliddi did. Making it more tragic is that the ducks are unaware of this connection while th Rinliddi regard ducks as mythical creatures. Then they enounter their descendents in Dragon Pass.....
