One of the risks of playing Humakti isn't it? Perhaps we need a rules mechanism which allows the player's new character to benefit from the well played death of the old one.

Humakt extends his protection to his faithful followers allowing them to die properly rather than become undead. It's a choice for the PC - do you embrace death or try and wriggle out of it. The latter involves breaking faith with your god and making yourself a target for any other Humakti around.
