Sounds reasonable.

One of the risks of playing Humakti isn't it? Perhaps we need a rules mechanism which allows the player's new character to benefit from the well played death of the old one.

Humakt extends his protection to his faithful followers allowing them to die properly rather than become undead. It's a choice for the PC - do you embrace death or try and wriggle out of it. The latter involves breaking faith with your god and making yourself a target for any other Humakti around.

Another thought on curing "soul wounds". There could be some Lunar magic which diverts the "hunger to fill the void" into "hunger to feed the Goddess". Possibly Danfive Xaroni magic. Perhaps the source of the rumours of the Vampire Legion - they aren't strictly vampires any longer but they're terrifying people dressed in black with weird practices.
