[Glorantha] Chaos and Void

A view expressed here a number of times recently has been that Chaos is synonymous with Void and/or Annhilation. I'm not sure I agree. Some chaos is, for sure - Gods killed by Kajabor were destroyed and can no longer be contacted for instance, and Vivamort's Chaos wound causes his soul/spirit/essence parts to leak away unless he can replenish them from what he can steal from others, but other Chaos beings are more "productive" - Porchango changes what he corrupts rather than destroys it utterly. The Gorp-god grows and spawns blobs of living chaos protoplasm. Bagog, Krasht and Thed may all be destructive and worshipped by destructive children, but they also represent some sort of fertility (in Thed's case a very destructive fertiltiy to be sure). Malia too brings death, but not anhillation

So I'd say that Chaos is "Corruption" not "Annhilation", and the Annhillation of Kajabor and the Chaos void is a "corruption" of death Received on Wed 05 Apr 2006 - 12:13:21 EEST
