[Glorantha] Lunars 2

I've already discussed Sedenyic philosophy as I understand it, but that was how it relates to the individual. Now I'd like to theorize on what it means on a wider scale.

There was a mortal girl called Teelo Norri. The Renativity rite allowed her to realize to goddess within her and become aware of her former selves. She grew up and underwent a long and difficult heroquest to give up her self (lower case 's', her concious personality) and realize her Great Self. IMHO this is not the end of the process.

We are All Us. Her path is our path, and every Lunar is striving to achieve oneness with Sedenya. Her path and her sacrifice is that of every Lunar. But her path is actualy the path of all mortal beings, not just Lunars. The spiritual journey of all mortals is to become something greater than our selves.

She ascended into the heavens in the form of the Red Moon, a material world that is also an otherworld. What is the Lunar power? What are Lunes? It isn't a mixed world like the surface world or underworld yet Lunar magic can be of any type - feats, spells, spirits. I believe that Lunar power is the union of all the powers. It's not a constructed system incorporating them all like a machine made of metal, wood and plastic. It's irreducibly all of them at the same time, more like an alloy. I think of the mixed worlds as being like an image on a TV screen constructed from millions of red, green and blue dots to make an image that appears to be white, but Lunar power is like a truly clear white light. But there's a flaw in that analogy (at a trivial level) because the moon is red, not white. It's not white Yet.

If the goddess is us, then the moon is the world. I think it's a model of what the world will become, in the same way that She is a vision of what mortals can and will be. The model is a temporary stage in the transformation of the world. The power it contains and represents must be released through sacrifice. Just as she sacrificed her self, so the Red Moon must be sacrificed.

Sedenya is the Great Self, but it is not the All - Taraltara. Sedenya is capable of gazing upon the face of Taraltara, which destroys all things that percieve it. When Sedenya takes the final step and becomes one with Taraltara She will be All Things. She will be Orlanth, Pamalt, Mshunassan, and as the Zin letters testify she will be the Invisible God. Lunar power will be Cosmic Power and all magic and all otherworlds will be One.
