Glorantha has inspired me to think about the rise of monotheism quite a bit. The Judeo/Christian/Islamic monotheism (along with it's Zarathustran roots) is an over used theme in fantasy and even Sciense Fiction. Even the anime classic Neon Genesis Evengelion draws on this.
Isn't it strange that nobody takes the angle that Yahweh is just one tribal god among thousands. The tribal god of the Jewish people, who is jealous and possessive, violent and vengeful. Later his worshippers have strayed really far from the original thinking, and have built a monotheistic worldview around him. Still, isn't it ultimately still the same tribal god?
I wonder what the Gloranthan analogue would be?
