This is to some extent remeniscent of the situation is Islam. The Koran includes many passages that re re-tellings of the lives of the old prophets and old religious teachings. In some details it varies from other (older) versions and Muslims believe that the Koran includes the definitive versions and that furthermore it includes all the information anyone needs to know. If older versions of the stories or teachings are more extensive or vary in some details then the extra details are of no value and the variances are inaccuracies. I imagine the Abiding Book is regarded in a similar way by modern Makioni.
Having said that, the Koran does contain some aparent contradictions, and some of the Suras seem to be more extensive re-tellings of old Suras and I doubt the Abiding Book has much of this sort of thing. And then of course there are the Satanic Verses which are a whole other kettle of fish, but I digress.
