Adding to Jeff's point, while there have been cultural contacts throughout Esvulari history with their Heortling they are seperate cultures. I would look at them as distant cousins. My guess would to lean on the Christianized Northern European cultures of the Early Medieval period such as late Anglo-Saxon England, with a structure that is not feudal but could be exploited as such. That allows you to push the analogue of the Seshnelan adventurers as Normans, overlaying a feudal culture over the existing structure.

It also allows you to lean on stories of the spread of Christianity into pagan Europe for missionaries spreading the Aeolian church.
