There is a cynical explanation.
Discovered, arguably, in the way that a thief might 'discover' he owned someone else's pproperty. Or an experimental heroquester might 'discover' that Elmal was Yelmalio all along.
The Seven Mothers avowedly set out to create the worst possible thing that could happen to the Carmanians (did we know that before ILH 2?). So cobbling together something that all the oppressed could gather behind by 'discovering' that She is the same as all those gods, and sticking two fingers up at the Carmanaians by having her 1) a woman, 2) highly sexed (at least in some incarnations) and 3) combining light and dark is explicable without the Lunar myth being objectively true. There might have been an existing dead goddess on which they bolted these things.
Of course, by 'now' (1620s) all the traces have been kicked over so much any necessary fabrications are neigh on undetectable, and enough people in Glorantha believe it for it to have become true as a description of 'now'. Received on Fri 04 Aug 2006 - 18:08:10 EEST
