That's not exactly what I meant. The history in KoS isn't told in the spirit of "worst luck ever", it's just how it reads, at least to me.

But my point was that it's much more interesting for both the GM and the players if the future isn't set in a timeline. Wars are unpredictable, and anything may happen, if the game starts from pre-invasion time.

At least that is how I like to run my games.
