I finally figured out the Yina character's powers with the gamer.
Going with the classic shadowcat description, and thinking about the Sandals of Darkness heroquest, I and the player came up with an ability to hide in the shadows, and also to slip "between realities", or into a sort of a shadow realm, where she can walk unobserved by normal people, sort of walking on the boundary between the Underworld and the mundane plane. Sounds interestingly dangerous.
Since the character's mother was a minor heroine in her own right, I started thinking about heroforming. It would seem intuitive that a daughter would have a significant bonus in heroforming her own heroic mother, but I'm not sure I've ever seen rules or guidelines regarding this.
I've never used the heroforming mechanics before either. Is this something that is often used in your games? How does it play out in practise? How do you people handle it? When Yina heroforms Theya Dawnsfire (the mother), how much does she become the mother? How much control and volition does she have?
