Thaks for the comments. I think you're right about the cavalry. Quite of bit of force will be able to fight either as cavalry or as infantry. They won't do that well if they ride headlong into the cataphracts of Tarsh, but they are propably farily decent (irregular) cavalry. The huscarls will still be a more skilled in fighting on foot (blades, I quess) than riding, except for the elmali, who are propably very good with their horses.
Sartar is fairly modern, so I think the cities will be able to send some units of massed bow, but othervice Sartarite bow users will fight as skirmishers along with slingers and javelin throwers.
As for dedicated magic units, let's not forget the Storm Walkers. Those
people are terrifying in either role. They can take on an elite Lunar unit
with sword and spear, or with lightning and hailstone. The other magical
specialists would propably be the royal household, and parhaps the Lankhor
Mhy cult.
