This is one of the beefs I have about HeroQuest. It was designed to be able to encompass normal gaming, HeroQuesting and the Hero Wars. However, it seems stuck in the "you are a begining character and have to chase sheep rustlers" level of play.
To do that, we really need writeups, not just stats but proper writeups, of the main Hero Wars protagonists.
These would include the major characters from the Dragon Pass game but would have a lot more.
What have we got at the moment? The Crimson Bat and Moonboats. That's all.
I know that people are concerned that once the major players are written up, then people will try and go through them in a Hero Hack, but why not? At least give us the chance of seeing what the Heroes are supposed to look like, then let us change them if we need to.
> I'm guessing most of those people have one or a few definig heroic traits,
Yes, even a brief breakdown would be good.
> Something like:
> Jareel the Razoress
> Supernatural beauty 1w3
> Dancing Scimitar style 10w4
> Devotee of ???
Mythic Russia does it a little differently, giving most of the immortals a huge whack in their Immortal/Witch/Dragon rating and then listing a few abilities/keywords.
So, you might have something like:
Jareel the Razoress
Lunar Immortal 10W4 (I can't remember the Arcane Lore rating)
Head of Bloodspillers Cult 10W3
Insipration of Moonson 20W3
Supernatural Beauty 1w3
Dancing Scimitar style 10w4
Devotee of ???
But, we need them in order for HeroQuest to truly do what it set out to.
After all, with the Draogonrise, we will be at the start of the Hero Wars proper. How are we going to go through the rest of Argrathsaga without stats for the Lunars? Are we going to wait for another god-knows-how-many-years before we get the King of Sartar scenarios written up as supplements? Look how long it took for Sartar Rising 1-3 to come out, have we any idea when Dragonrise will appear?
It all smacks of the "characters should retire when they become Rune Lords" mentality. Now, we have "Heroes should retire once they learn a Great Secret" and no stats for powerful people. It's all part of the same culture, in my opinion.
See Ya
