Excellent analysis! As soon as I get home, I'm putting that post somewhere safe. I had propably been focusing too much on the "Dragon Pass" style battlefield dominance of the field colleges.
Good point elsewhere too about the more specialized units, like the Crater Makers. Funnily enough, I think the crater makers may not have a fast enough response time for use as battlefield artillery. It propably takes a while for the meteors to fly from the moon. They seem to be more of a strategic asset, used like cruise missiles (or huge trebuchets) to pound enemy fortifications and towns.
