I wonder how ol' Alakoring managed that. As I understand it, when the Inhuman King dies, the most advanced ruler stage dragonewt becomes the next Inhuman King. Parhaps Alakoring's war had wiped out all the other high stage 'newts already.

The Dragon Pass boardgame says that without the Inhuman King, the 'newts don't reincarnate, and are lost at death. Only when the new Inhuman King takes his place, does the reincarnation work again.

I guess this can't be correct anymore? The Ralian 'newts are supposed to reincarnate just like their bretheren in Dragon Pass. They just don't have a ruler to guide them above a certain stage of development.

My guess is that the Inhuman King of Dragon Pass has taken up handling the Ralian newt's spiritual cycle as well, at least as far as making sure their reincarnation works properly. They are still barbarians, since the IK isn't there to guide them in person.

Given the extremely long development times of the dragonewts, I'd say the situation isn't permanent. The dragonewts are propably working on re-establishing a Ralian Dragon's Eye, with it's own King. They just haven't gotten around to it yet, since the whole Alakoring fiasco happened so recently :D
