Yes, your recollection is correct. And you probably also recall that
KoDP operates at the clan level, not the individual level, and
abstracts a number of things.
In any case, in KoDP it's always "the ancestors" collectively. Which
I think is entirely consistent with more recent publications that are
detail-oriented.
