No, not so much bitterness, more contempt and disgust
at what isn't even gross incompetence, it's far worse
than that.
And, it is not the first time. Remember how all the way through RQ and HW, you aimed for the day when you could have Iron equipment? And in HQ, suddenly Iron can't be enchanted anymore, and overnight, your precious sword that you spent game-years working towards is wrecking your magic and you have to leave it? With no explanation of why the world was changing under our feet? No apology, no correction, nothing?
A book, you just read. This is a product intended to be *used*. You don't just spend a few hours reading about a character, you spend many years *being* them on and off. When a new module in the same universe comes out, it's meant to be fit for purpose. If instead, it tosses away some of the basic tenets of the background, it's not usable, it's not fit for purpose, and we should get our money back or an immediate replacement that IS fit for purpose (and, obviously, never buy anything from that supplier again).
What we get instead WAS just being ignored. Now, we get told explicitly that none of this matters, that the Great Artistic Temperament is far more important than actually supplying something that's fit for the job it was sold for. And you wonder why we're not impressed?
