And this list has the advantage of being archived in a way that is accessible to search engines. Nor does the server fall over and lose all it's settings allowing spammers to distribute their junk until individual list moderators change them back. Advantages and disadvantages with both.

Doesn't alter the fact that it's a breech of copyright law. The clue is in the word "copy". Alternatively you could have posted a link to the message in the archive without any copyright infringement.

Nobody is jealously guarding the copyright of every single idea or titbit. I'm just suggesting that you should ask before taking other people's stuff and distributing it elsewhere. In my experience most Gloranthan fans are quite happy to share but asking first is both polite and complies with the law.
