That is true, Nick. You played this character as good as one as expected
from you. IMO Octavian represented the real new missionary character as the
will show up in Sartar. To present this character also to the other
participants on the digest I will present you the most important parts of
his character description I have use for the latest LARP 'Rise of Ralios':

Octavian Suppositorius
Chief Missionary of the Lunar Empire

Age: 49
Personal traits: consequent, pragmatic, intelligent

Political affiliation: the Lunar Empire
Religious affiliation: the Seven Mothers (Irripi Ontor)

Background:
You are Octavian Suppositorius a high ranking bureaucrat of the Lunar
Empire. The external religious affairs concerning the holy mission of the
Lunar Empire are your responsibility. You are a devotee of Irripi Ontor, one
of the Seven Mothers.

Scientific research is not your task. You are a philosopher and orator,
using his skill to manipulate people and to spread propaganda. It is your
task to convince the masses of the Lunar Way. You are capable of conferring
to an audience what is the common good and how to achieve it. Thus you are
using the individual desires and dreams of the common man to further the
ends of the Empire. To you, brooding over scrolls and accumulating knowledge
is a thing of the past. The cult has to serve pratical purposes, if it wants
to retain a position of importance in the Lunar pantheon.

You are a good example of a successful Lunar career. You were born in
Torang, as a son of a lowly cloth merchant. Your father sent you to Glamour,
where you were initiated into the service of the Lunar Empire. First, you
recieved a training as a scribe, next you were send to the Lunar
universities to develope your obvious potential for Lunar philosopy. You
have proved to be an execeptional student and you rose to power and
resposibility within the Lunar red tape. Seven years ago, you were appointed
chief missionary of the province of Sartar and any future aquisitions of the
Empire in that region. You were sent to that remote provice in the south of
Maniria, to Jonstown.

There, you had ample time to study Theyalanian culture. You had to replace
the local whorship of Lankhor Mhy with the blessed enlightment that Irripi
Ontor provides to his followers. As chief of the Irripi Ontors in Jonstown,
you almost managed to take over control over the huge Lankhor Mhy temple
complex. You started a further education scheme for high ranking Sartarites,
thereby combining practical advice with Lunar indoctrination. Unfortunately,
you became chief inquisitor of Lunar affairs in Sartar and subsequently
entangled in the bickering among the local administration and military. In
the long run, these interfactional fight proved to be desasterous for your
career. For when a bloody intrigue broke up among Glaugos Iaseros the
military commander and the mayor Amyphemus Eteditus, you were framed with
the death of the commander and the following loss of face in the region.

As a punishment, you were sent to the Holy Country to missionate the local
babarians, joining the expeditionary forces conquering the country. For a
long, long time you did nothing else but preaching to stubborn and
unyielding babarians in a region almost constantly at war. More than once
you almost met death at the hands of uncivilized heathens.

                        -----------
The rest is history of Rise of Ralios.

Cheers
