The very first RQ Con was in Baltimore, courtesy of David Cheng.
Con II was in San Francisco. III was RQDU (Australia).
After III there were several claimanits for the next site. It
was finally worked out that IV would be in Chicago, Jan '97. V would
be in Victoria, summer '97, VI would be in the Wadhington DC area in
Jan '98. IV & V came off on schedule, but the group trying to run VI
fell apart. Now VI is scheduled for Jan '98, Down Under, and VII is
set for May '98 in LA.
Maybe you could put together an East Coast con for Jan '99?
You could get plenty of helpfull advice from former con organizers on
the Digest. This includes (but is not limited to): Neil Robinson &
the Seattle Farmers Collective; MOB, Andrew Bean & the rest of the DU
bunch, Roderick Robertson & Eric Rowe from the California crowd; David
Cheng; Hall/Brooke/Jacklin/Gidlow/Phillips/Meints RMM England; and
lastly my own self.
