Forgetting written names.

Nick Brooke asked:
>How the heck do you "forget" the name of your god?

When you are forbidden to use the name. (Remember the Stoning scene from
Life of Brian...)

Using obscure glyphs with no clear pronunciation rules ("eeryone knows how
to say that") and then a hiatus of active worship.

>Light Priest literacy requirements alone would make this rather difficult.

Only if you assume that the ur-Yelmalio cult used a phonetic script, and
_dared_ to put the god's name into writing. Even in literate religions, many
mysteries are kept in very restricted circles. Kill these off or bring them
into discredit, and there you are.
