Perhaps Pavis wanted to create a complete universe of his own within the

walls. Or maybe he wanted to recreate a small portion of Genert's
paradise.

Maybe he was just a power gamer (in a non-RPG sense).

Remember, the cult of Pavis is the only cult that has access to all five

elementals, AFAIK. Also, he already had makers. He had allied the
nomads.
He had wyrmfriends. He had the river. Why wouldn't he want growers as
well?

Why would he want all this? Well, rumour has it that Pavis wants to
resurrect or become Genert or at least the Lord of the Land aspect.

Pete Metcalfe:

Thanks for pointing out the Rubble passage, but this still doesn't say
*why* the Aldryami moved to Pavis. I am considering the possibility

that they moved there for a very specific reason. Maybe the original
intention was to produce extra-fertile seed plants that would repopulate
the once great forest of Prax, or maybe they were setting up a trade
centre for specialised exotic plants that can only be grown in Prax'
environment, OR perhaps they had moved there for a political reason to
do with Pavis himself (this is probably the one I'll use)

I personally don't believe in the Dryad theory. After all, sons of
Dryads (from humans) are Satyrs IIRC. Like I said, most races *IMG*
cannot interbreed (Those that can are magical). The belief that Pavis
was a half-elf is based on the fact *IMG* that he is the only human in
local recorded/known history that was so close to the Aldryami that he
was almost regarded as one of their own, and so was nicknamed by his
peers at the time. This was then either misunderstood or deliberately
blurred by succesive generations of Pavis priests. The myth that I am
working on will be the "true" version of the story.

BTW, thanks for the other ref's too.

Well, he only really allied with the Pure Horse People (as far as I'm
concerned) so that he could beat the beast riders. He then settled an
uneasy pact in return for healing their god, but it didn't really last
so it's not like he eradicated all potential threats, though he did make
a good attempt.

I don't think power was a factor in his plans. He gained the elemental
sin various border pacts to do with the boundaries of his city (Orlanth
defines the air boundary , Mostal the earth, Zola Fel the water, etc).
I believe his major ideal was to create a place of peace. Why he chose
Prax, I don't know.

Oops! Actually, after sending the post I did realise that I meant
Shadows Dance, not Adari, that he'd visited.

> I seem to recall some sort of link between the Pavis elves and the
Redwood

Is this not where they originated? I believe that there was some sort
of link with elves before he awakened the statue. There is Pavis'
healer aspect (ie his journey to heal waha and thus create a sort of
peace with the nomads), which somehow I've associated with Arroin. I
don't think it's suggested in an official source, but I could be wrong.
