Not so. Those weren't just *pictures* on the original Seshnegi Knights'
shields: they were the flayed skins of the lions (and sometimes lion-men)
the Knights had killed! The logic was that if you'd killed a lion, you were
pretty tough and had the right to boast about it: even if you didn't eat its
heart to gain its courage (etc.) a la Richard the Tigerhearted (and
Carmanian mystery-cults passim). This later degenerated into mere heraldry;
but the number of lions on shields in Seshnela (or Seshneg, if you have
still engaged "pedant" mode) is *not* a reflection of their local
popularity -- quite the reverse!
