Hi
IMO Orlanth learned compassion in becoming King of the Gods.
Compassion to me means "with suffering", ie - how much are you
willing to suffer for that which you love. Orlanth suffered greatly in
the tests Yelm's court put him through before they reached their
understanding - or Yelm's acceptance of Orlanth - and then, in
fighting they way out of hell.
Orlanth is not as renown for compassion as others (ie Chalana
Arroy), but he willingly suffered the Requirement of Proof for the
well-being of the world. That to me is compassion, and Orlanth
exemplified it through the LBQ.
Happy New Year everyone, all the best for 1999.
