This may have been my own interpretation, but I always assumed that
sorcerers worked kind of like transistors, in that a small voltage
controls a larger voltage -- in other words, that a small amount of
personal energy, applied properly, controlled a much bigger amount of
magical energy of the universe. My logic was that sorcery spells were
just too powerful (at the high end at least) to be an individual's
personal energy. This is completely consistent with channelling
energy from the sorcery plane (other than the terminology). And I
believe it's consistent with RQ3: "use your inate power to manipulate
the natural laws of the world," not to manipulate the world directly.

Actually, it was spirit magic that gave the "ability to draw magican
energies from within oneself," according to RQ3.
