ILH-1 (yay!) in one table splits the population into two groups, but AFAICS this isn't refered to elsewhere in the text. So which part of R. os "old and dim", and which part is "new and bright"? (In either case I assume one of the NW and the eastern sectors, as divided by the rivers.)
