Well, we tried to make the background material in the computer game King of Dragon Pass as approachable as possible (we don't expect that our players know anything about Glorantha). Plus it has the advantage of being illustrated.

And if you're running your series in the 1620s, then the game itself could be considered a source for your clan's history. [Warning: it's intentionally non-historical in its story line, since it wouldn't be much fun if you lost ever game when Sartar showed up and became King of Dragon Pass.]
