We have used it so. A very good tactics roll also gives bonuses to the indiviual characters in their fights. Also, if you wanted to resolve the battle as an extended contest between the quality of each unit (Demon Lover's Regiment: Battle 19w4 vrs Orlanthi fyrd: Battle 9w) and then the tactics used would be an augmentation to this.
