The answer is likely to be a slightly disappointing 'wait for Storm Tribe' I'm afraid. I've got the impression that Nandan is a male Vinga - ie. provides access for men to the women's magic - so Nandan should be a solution. Converting to Heler is another possbility. Both in the next book.

Personally, I'd try and be patient for now.
