If you don't have CoP it wasn't a mistake. I'm sure the filing systems are wonderful. Unfortunately LM temples are very factionalized. Individual scholars or groups rarely tell anyone where they filed anything important. LM scholars tend to hoard knowledge (Issaries cultists are the communicators ... for a price).
CoP does hint that they are waiting for a cult hero to sort this out ...
