I'm sure there is mention of fostering somewhere in KoS, though not in this form. I don't have it with me unfortunately. One of my brave young Orlanthi is a triplet and as such was taken by the clan chief and fostered as his own. Sartarian cheifs demand one of any triplet born.

Do sorcery practicing cultures take the 7th son of a 7th son?
