S> I'm sticking to my theory that the Land Goddesses and Grain S> Goddesses are One. This doesn't mean that there aren't farming S> goddesses associated with a particular grain. For instance, Krala is S> the Land Goddess of Kralorela, and her special grain is Rice. Yet S> there is also a Rice Mother. For that matter, I can imagine someone S> living in Peloria and wanting to worship Esrola because she is the S> Barley goddess. Even though she's not native to my homeland.
I've an idea that solves both these problems... Land Goddesses have aspects, these aspects are the grain goddesses. If a LG doesn't have a particular GG as an aspect then that grain WILL NOT grow (without special magic) in that land. Thus Hon-Eel's heroquest brought a 'grain' that existed in the East Wilds to Peloria, and is remembered for that, but her quest was really 'just' to add another GG aspect to their GG...
Does this sound like a good idea? I just had it as a result of reading these two posts and haven't thought it out...

This message made me think of the Theosophists, who are still trying to prove that mystical experiences are the same throughout the world. This leads them to distort the message of many faiths (esp Buddhism, IMHO) in order to 'prove' their thesis about the universality of religion.

L> 2. I loooooved the Morocanth's Thumbs thing-a-quest, Martin, but you L> wimped out at the end. The human's thumbs simply have to be the L> stakes of the bet. When the human loses the victorious Morocanth L> bites off the loser's thumbs and sticks them on his own paws, where L> they instantly fuse to the morocanth's flesh. I agree totally, but the morokanth becomes a Herd-beast if he loses... Same for the man. This is after all a reenactment of the survival covenant.

D> Ooops, I used a D&Dism! Shall I be castrated or quartered (or both)?
Both, I should think. Liked your idea about a Dragon cult though...
