Alison, you'll be happy to know there is a full new revision of disease and passion spirit rules about to be sent to the printer as part of Lords of Terror. Personally, I find them more consistent and 'realistic', but they are not perfect. I'll post an errata here after it comes out in case they didn't fix a couple of things. I think you will be more pleased with with this version.
