Making the standard of barter to be a cow is rather excessive, that would be
like defining the standard of exchange for the daily US material economy as
$100.00 bills (or maybe $1,000.00 bills)!
I think a chicken standard would be a good deal more realistic, either that
or a grain standard (then you would also have ready-made archaic divisions
of bushel, quart, etc.)
