Gentle Faellae is the Mistress of Herds, governing the health and
well-being of a chenxa's cattle and other animals. She is also revered
as the Nursemaid, Protector of Children.
Cult in the World
Faellae is one of the many daughters of Naharra and Fanthros, charged
by her parents with the care of both her younger siblings and the herd
animals kept by the tribe.
Depicted as a young chenxa filly bearing an ornate crook of yarrowood,
her coloration varies to match that of the tribe that worships her. She
is said to teach shepherds the secret languages of their beasts, so that
they might better understand their charges and be better able to spot
sickness or danger.
Faellae's shamans celebrate her High Holy Day on the 1st of Readying,
and celebrate minor holidays honoring the first birth (chenxa or herd
beast) of each year. Chenxa children born under such auspices are always
cultivated by the tribe's shaman for advancement in the cult, but there
is no requirement that the youngster must comply.
Shrines to Faellae are simple affairs, typically the shaman's crook is
the only icon required, placed at the center of a pattern of stones in
an open field. Her shamans may be of either sex, but must wear their
hair as long as possible and commonly arrange both tail and mane in
complex braids, often accented by flowers.
Lay Membership
Requirements: Anyone is welcome in the cult, but it naturally appeals
mostly to those charged with watching over the tribe's animals and
children.
Skills taught by the cult include Dance, Sing, Speak Languages, Craft
(flowers, hair, wood), First Aid, Lores (animal, chenxa, plant, world),
Play Instrument, Listen, Scan, Scent/Taste, Track, Ceremony, Sling
attack, and Staff attack/parry.
Initiate Membership
Requirements: Standard. Initiates of the cult are taught the cult
special skill Understand Beast Speech.
Understand Beast Speech (Perception (00))
This perception skill allows it's user to perceive and interpret
warning signs, movements, odors, and other gestures made by herd beasts.
Speaking to animals is not possible with this skill.
Spirit Magic: Most spirit magic is available from the shamans of this
cult, but they commonly only teach the following: Admonish, Birth Song,
Farsee, Heal, and Zephyr Stone.
Priesthood / Shamans
Requirements: Standard for shamans. Known as the Faehai (Gentle-eyed),
shamans of this cult are nonetheless formidable if faced with the
defense of their charges. When not involved in watching over their
flocks, the shamans of this cult teach the children of the tribe.
Virtues for Faellae include Altruistic, Energetic, Joyous, and Loyal.
