Yeah, I figure its is bound to happen at least once.
But from that point on the character using this iteam
might as well have a permanent bull's eye painted on
him.

My other ideas was to limit it to one type of magic
Spirit, Sorcery, or Divine with cost varring from 1pt
to 3pt depending on the type of crystal.

I could see this but it would make it very difficult
for a sorcerer to use something like this
