We'd been playing about 5 years real time; he'd spent only part of the
POW himself, getting the rest made by others through buying, looting,
stealing, threatening, mutual support agreements, etc.

Just push the envelope on the use of binding matrices. Knowing what I do
know, I wouldn't allow it again. The player DID force me to take a long,
hard look at what could be done with sorcery. Combos of different bound
spirit types can be pretty effective.
