Or have him build a character based on a someone in a movie or a book. You know
the person pretty well and have an idea about how they will act, but still have a
lot of leeway. Mouse from Ladyhawk; Silk from the Belgariad books; Boromir from
LOTR...
Once they can play him/her in character, tell them to start making small changes to
'personalize' their character.
