FWIW, the medieval ecclesiastical population (monks
and priests) was about 1.5%. Greg has referred to this
figure in the past for determining the numbers of rune
levels ("What it takes to convince the examiners"). It
might apply to numbers of godi and priests, or just
priests. A 1000 person clan would have 15 religious
workers under this figure, which seems acceptable for
priests alone, bit not priests and godi. I would
guesstimate no more than an additional 4.5% for godi
(4.5% godi; 1.5% preists; 6% religious officers).
Prsumably clans with stronger magic have more godi
than those that don't.
So in a 40 person stead this would give us 2.4 godi -probably one each for Orlanth and Ernalda.
As always, YMMV.

"Women as well as men were recruited to restrain combatants, sometimes dampening their weapons by throwing clothing over them. Peacemaking of this sort required strength and courage more than negotiating skills...The clothing was more sign than substance, like the bell signalling the end of a round, and it seems that the sign was not without significant cultual force." - Bloodtaking and Peacemaking by William Ian Miller
