I'm still catching up on this thread so apologies if someone else has mentioned it, but surely contraception in Glorantha is much better than in pre-modern RW. I don't think that all these young women with their casual attitudes to sex and year-marriages etc.. are getting preggers all the time. As in the RW decreased infant mortality and ready availability of contraception = lower birth rates which would count against increased chances of infant survival due to magic etch. This would also tend to lead to women waiting longer to start a family...
