Better yet, as Victor Davis Hanson has commented, this is a movie about the Greek myth of the Spartan stand at Thermopylae. I'm pretty sure that the Greeks would have loved it. Personally, I thought it was the single coolest action/war movie I have seen. Period.
A glorious kick-ass event.
