Firstly, as long as it doesn't say he was leading the band that killed the tax collectors, he may just have been in the expedition. Slightly young for initiation, but let's presume he's precocious.

True - the problem was I hadn't considered the "killed the tax collectors" to be as early as 1603/4.

     Battle of Runegate, 1602. So, Lunars turning up to assess their new conquest are probable. Not unlikely that the first few find themselves suddenly meeting their goddess wondering what just hit them. Lunars demand that the miscreants are turned over to meet the full force of Lunar justice, but they're surprisingly absent... No doubt there's a Lunar want list for such characters out in Pavis when that's conquered in 1612, was it?
