In the Third Age, he's appointed by the Lunars. But how did
succession work in the Second Age? According to Fortunate Succession,
Carmandar succeeds his half-brother. Ammas succeeds his uncle. Saman
succeeds his cousin. Is there a rule, or is there political
maneuvering among the regal family?
And there seems to be a delay in most of the accessions (e.g.
Surandar reigns until 812, his son Carshandar gains the throne in
813). Is this because of the political maneuvering, or for ritual
reasons?
