[My concept of the shadow cats is that as the they are mythologically kin, their "society" mirrors that of the heortling humans they live with. That means that they breed rather slowly (not like housecats, but rather in litters of one to three, once every few years... and reach sexual maturity fairly slowly as well), and propably only in certain times of the year. Since Yinkin is a famous lover, I think these cats are human like in that they have social sex all through the year, but this very rarely result in pregnancy.
All in all when I make choises regarding the biology and behaviour of the Shadow Cats, I think of real world cats and try to find something that would work as an analogue of the Heortling culture... and I focus more on the mythological reasoning than real world biology.]
