Second Edition Runequest

Hi,

I purchased the second edition Runequest, and I have a character creation question for anyone who is familiar with it. After you roll on the background table and get a result of peasant, townsman, barbarian, noble, how do you determine your background experience? The book goes up to page 12 for character creation, and then it just seems to end. I admit I am not really familiar with the book yet, but I can't seem to find a section on previous experience. Can someone help?
